So sit back, fetch a cup of coffee, and let us guide you through the fulfilling path of bringing home not just a pet, but a best friend who could transform your life in countless beautiful ways.

Save a Life, Be a Hero!

Every rescue dog is a life saved! Tens of millions of pets need homes worldwide. Shelters aren’t just local; they’re global. We may not have kill shelters here, but our furry friends from the US aren’t so lucky. By choosing to adopt, you’re saving a life and making room for another animal in need. It’s a win-win!

Discover Amazing Pets Waiting for You!

Shelters are bursting with joyful, healthy pets eager for their forever homes. They’re there due to human circumstances, not their own. Adopting gives these deserving dogs a second chance at love and life.

Score a Bargain of a Lifetime!

Adopting a pet means getting a great deal. Initial vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, and sometimes even microchipping are often included in the adoption price. Plus, you’ll get a loyal friend who’ll shower you with love!

Bragging Rights Galore!

Forget selfies, it’s all about petfies now! Show off your adorable adopted pet and bask in the likes and love. By adopting, you’re a hero, a rescuer, and a beacon of hope for these animals.

Stand up Against Puppy Mills!

Choosing to adopt means saying no to puppy mills. These profit-driven facilities neglect the welfare of dogs, resulting in sick and troubled animals. By adopting, you’re ensuring your money doesn’t support these inhumane practices.

Your Decor Will Thank You!

Many shelter pets are already house-trained, saving your precious rugs and furniture. Ideal for those living in condos!

Boost Your Health and Self-Esteem!

Pets offer unconditional love and plenty of health benefits. Plus, adopting a pet fills you with pride knowing that you’ve helped an animal in need.

Be Environmentally Responsible!

Adopting a pet is like recycling—it’s all about giving something (or someone) a second chance at life.

Experience the Ease of Adoption!

Shelters and rescue groups make the process easy. Vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and medications are often taken care of, and some even offer training classes.

Change a Life Forever!

By adopting, you’re giving a homeless animal a whole new world—and gaining a best friend in the process. What could be better?

The Take Away

Adopting a pet is a rewarding and enriching experience. Whether it’s to save a life, stand against puppy mills, or simply open your heart and home to an animal in need, countless reasons make adoption the best choice. Not only will you help a homeless animal find their forever home, but you’ll also enjoy numerous physical and mental health benefits. So, if you’re looking for an incredible new best friend, look no further than your nearest shelter or rescue!

Over a decade ago, Alison (Ally) Fodero – who was in the middle of completing her Masters degree at the time – returned home from a scuba diving trip to Honduras with an adopted stray dog that had followed her around during her time there. When she returned to the spot a year later, another stray dog became attached to her – one who turned out to be the sister of her dog at home, as a local informed her. Nonetheless, the adoption of the second dog was inevitable and a beautiful reunion ensued in the parking lot at Pearson International Airport. It was then that “Soulmutts” became an idea, one that would begin with one truck, one dog walker, and five or six dogs in a park.
