Why prices vary so much
Location
Walkers in the core spend more time in transit between clients and pay more to live nearby. Expect the high end downtown, the low end in Scarborough and Etobicoke.
Private vs group
Private walks cost more per dog because the walker’s hour is yours alone. Group walks are cheaper and better exercise — if the group is matched and the walker can handle it. Read one-on-one vs group walks.
Experience, insurance and bonding
A walker with insurance, first-aid training and years of references charges more and is worth it. Ask to see the insurance certificate. Soulmutts is insured and bonded under a commercial policy with $5 million in aggregate liability.
Length
Thirty minutes on a sidewalk is a bathroom break for most dogs under seven. Sixty is exercise. Ninety minutes off-leash is a tired dog.
The cost per tired dog
A $30 half-hour walk buys roughly 30 minutes of leash time. Our off-leash outings — $30 — buy about three hours door to door: pickup at your home in our van, around an hour and a half running free with a matched group in our 4,000 sq ft private fenced park in Leslieville, and the ride home. It runs Monday to Friday and covers Leslieville, Riverdale, East York, the Beaches and nearby.
